Wonder World @ Incubator Studio Gallery, Bushwick, NYC

Featuring Mandy Henson — with her silkscreen print Armour feminine
Join us this November at the Lower Level South of 56 Bogart St., Bushwick, Brooklyn, for the eclectic group exhibition Wonder World, open Sunday, November 2 through Sunday, November 30, 2025. Gallery hours : Sundays 1 – 6 PM, with a reception on opening day, Sunday, November 2, 1 – 5 PM.
Mandy Henson presents a striking large-format framed silkscreen print titled Armour feminine, 2015. This 2D work visually echoes the language of her ceramic “Armour” sculptures—torso-forms of women which at once suggest outerwear, garments, and protective shells. On paper she abstracts the shape of the female body, the implied corsetry of fashion, and the metaphor of armour itself—fashion as protection, surface as barrier, and the body as terrain.
Mandy’s ongoing investigation frames objects of adornment and armour as vessels of identity, strength and metamorphosis. Her sculptures in porcelain and fired ceramics (for example “Armoured Corset”, 2023) explore the sculptural behaviours of cloth, layer and shell. With Armour feminine, she distills that material logic into the graphic form of silkscreen, where line and contour both reference and transform the volumetric work.
In this show alongside fellow artists Dasha Bazanova and Dave Alexander, Merritt Barnwell and curated by gallery director John Holt, Mandy’s contribution invites viewers to consider the interplay of presence and protection, ornament and defence, fashion and sculpture. The piece acts as a bridge between her tactile 3-D work and the graphic medium of print—asserting that even the most decorative surface may carry weight, intent and structure.
We hope you will join the reception on November 2 to meet the artists, engage with the works, and experience this cross-disciplinary presentation of shape, form and vision.
