Mandy Henson Featured in We the People at Raynham Hall Museum

Mandy Henson is pleased to announce her participation in We the People, the current juried exhibition at Raynham Hall Museum, on view from April 23 through August 30, 2026. Bringing together artists from across the local community, the exhibition invites contemporary responses to the enduring and often contested meaning of its title—who is included, who is protected, and who bears the consequences of power in American civic life.

Installed within the museum’s historic setting, Henson’s ceramic sculpture Cannon Fodder 2 was prominently featured at the exhibition’s opening reception, which drew a large turnout of patrons, artists, and Long Island community members. The work, from Henson’s ongoing Armor Series, presents a human torso marked by clustered ceramic spheres that suggest impact, burden, and bodily endurance. Its scorched yellow wood-fired surface evokes exposure and aftermath, transforming the notion of armor from protection into evidence.

Through this work, Henson reflects on the vulnerable collective body implied by the phrase “we the people”—those who stand in the path of social pressure, political force, and historical consequence. Rather than commemorating victory, Cannon Fodder 2 offers a quieter monument to resilience, attrition, and survival.
