Art League of Long Island: Figuratively Speaking
Oct. 26 – Nov. 27, 2024
We’re thrilled to announce that Mandy Henson’s ceramic piece, Armour #1, has been recognized with an Award of Excellence at the Art League of Long Island’s juried “Figuratively Speaking” exhibition! This honor is a testament to Mandy’s dedication to exploring form and expression in ceramics. The juror, Professor Seung Lee, had the challenging task of selecting honorees from an outstanding selection of 60 works, and Mandy’s creation stood out among them.

The Figuratively Speaking exhibition showcases a powerful range of figurative artworks, and Mandy’s Armour #1 shines as a unique contribution. Crafted through a meticulous woodfiring process, the piece demonstrates Mandy’s expertise in ceramics, capturing both strength and vulnerability.
For those who would like to celebrate and view this piece in person, there are two upcoming events at the Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery:
- Reception: Saturday, November 2, 1:00 – 3:00 pm – Join Mandy and other featured artists to kick off this dynamic exhibition.
- Gallery Talk with Prof. Seung Lee: Thursday, November 14, 7:00 – 8:30 pm – Gain insights from the juror on his award selections and the incredible works included in this show.
Visit the Art League of Long Island at 107 E. Deer Park Rd., Dix Hills, NY, from now until November 27 to experience the Figuratively Speaking exhibition and view Armour #1 along with other exceptional pieces.
